FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What areas do you serve?

I offer in-studio lessons in Bellevue, and in-home lessons in Bellevue and surrounding Eastside communities, recently including Mercer Island. A $20 travel fee per household applies for in-home lessons. If there are multiple students in the same household, only one travel fee is charged total, not per student.

Do you offer make-up lessons?

Your lesson time is reserved specifically for you each week. Missed lessons or last-minute cancellations cannot be refunded or made up. If you need to reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours advance notice, and I'll do my best to accommodate a different time within the same calendar week.

How much practice is expected?

Daily consistency is key. Short, focused practice every day is far more effective than one long session once a week. We'll work together to establish a routine that feels encouraging, steady, and realistic for your household.

Can parents observe lessons?

Yes — and it is highly encouraged. Parents are welcome to sit in quietly to observe how their child learns and to better support practice at home. A calm and respectful environment helps students feel confident and focused.

What ages and levels do you teach?

My studio is best suited for teens and adults who are ready for thoughtful, focused musical study. I welcome students with prior piano experience (generally three years or more), from intermediate through advanced levels, as well as dedicated adult learners. At this time, I do not offer lessons for toddlers or young beginner children.

What instrument do we need at home?

A well-maintained acoustic piano is ideal. A high-quality weighted digital piano is acceptable for temporary use. If you're considering purchasing a piano, I'm happy to provide recommendations.

How do we begin?

Step 1 — Reach out to schedule a phone or in-person consultation. Step 2 — We select a weekly lesson time that works with your schedule. Step 3 — Tuition is paid at the start of each month to reserve your ongoing lesson time.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept Apple Pay, Zelle, PayPal, and personal check.
